Last week in studio, we made site models of our site on the Fort Point Channel using found materials. Each team started a model and worked on it for 20 minutes, then switched models with another team. After working for 10 minutes more, the teams switched again. Each model had 40 minutes of work time and 12 hands, and, as we discovered, ample site information, both in plan and section despite being a mad dash to plan, analyze, prioritize, and execute a sketch model using some rather strange materials...
As we continue to map and analyze our site, we will continue to use sketch-model/drawing techniques, as well as more rigorous, or methodical, methods of urban and site analysis.
